Monkey Mia

Monkey Mia is a nature reserve and the nearest town is Denham. Which, when we got there, was pretty much booked out. Turns out it is school holidays and this is obviously a popular destination. The only spot we could get was in an overflow camping area which was basically just an empty block next to a caravan park that it belonged to. There was no toilet, no power, no rubbish bins, no nothing…$25 a night.
Next morning we drove to Monkey Mia to see the famous dolphin beach. Few dolphins come every morning for their share of fish which they now can get only under the supervision of park rangers. They can come as many as three times in the morning but they may not, apparently you are most likely to catch them there at eight. So we were waiting there at eight, along with a swarm of people who fired up their cameras as soon there was a fin above water. The dolphins came but it was hard to see over all the people. We were a bit disappointed by that but we did get to see them, even if not very close up. After that we wandered around the beach and actual always happened to be close by when the dolphins came back for more fish. The second and the third time there was only fraction of the original crowd and the third time – I GOT PICKED FROM THE CROWD AND FED A DOLPHIN!!!!! I gave him a little fish, his name was Puk ad he was super cute. He rolled to the side and very gently and calmly took the fish from my hand. Which is pretty much I talked about for the rest of the day.
