Airlie beach is the place for people wanting to see Whitsundays. So we pulled up in a caravan park and booked ourselves for a day sailing cruise on Camira. Here we took advice from couple of German backpackers that we ran into in Northern Territory and it paid off. We were picked up at accommodation at 7 am and at 8 am started the cruise with some tea and coffee on board. After couple of hours cruising among the islands we pulled up in a bay for some snorkelling. So we hopped of the boat into the pretty damn cold water. As soon as I put my face under water I was glad I was wearing the goggles. My eyes would have fallen out otherwise I think. I found myself floating inside a National Geographic coral sea special. I didn’t even know where to look first. There was so much colour, corals and fish that at one point my jaw just dropped open with amazement. Trust me – opening you mouth when snorkelling is bad idea. At the end of the allocated snorkelling time they pretty much had to pull us and couple of Scots out of water as we couldn’t take our eyes of the world below us. After snorkelling we were exchanging out our experiences while stuffing our faces with cakes and hot tea. From there we were off to Whitehaven Beach, where we had couple of hours of swimming, lazing in the sun etc. After that was lunch buffet lunch and then slow sail back among the islands towards Airlie while we were enjoying complementary wine and beer. We got back at 7 pm so we had a great day out, amazing value and definitely recommend Camira to anybody who will be heading to Airlie.
V sedum rano nas vyzvedli z kempu a v osm jsme uz vyplouvali z pristavu a srkali kafe a caj. V Airlie jsme pristali v sedm vecer a cekal nas autubus do kempu, takze jsme meli krasny den a vyborne jsme si ho uzili.
Unfortunately we don’t have underwater camera (broke it in Grampians) but our neighbour from the campsite kindly offered to give us photos from his camera.
My bohuzel podvodni fotak nemame (rozbili jsme ho v Grampians), nicmene nas soused v kempu nam nabidl svoje fotky.

Gorgeous! Glad to hear you had such a good time. Jared and I went to Mission Beach and snorkelled out at Eddy Reef near the Great Barrier Reef, and it was beautiful. But we didn't wear sunscreen....and paid for it the next day. Funny story. Remind me to tell you about it.
