Last day in Grampians was not exactly a highlight. First we decided to check out Mt William, the highest peak of Grampians. The brochure promised 360 views of the mountains, happy couple smiling on the photo enjoying the sun and the fabulous views. So we drove up to the carpark and set out on the short 2 km hike to the summit. It was quite cold but sunny. Well, at first it was. Few minutes later it was cold and cloudy and few minutes after that it was freezing, windy and we were in a thick cloud. Nevertheless we proceeded to the summit as we figured out that in such strong wind the cloud must blow over soon, right? Must have been one huge cloud as despite the crazy wind it stayed there all the time we were trying to get up. Also instead of being helpful and blowing into our backs it was blowing against us. So towards the wind I was pretty much wiping the track with my face trying to walk against this storm that came out of nowhere while Gordie was behind me swearing and cursing. Anyway we made it to the top eventually and this was our reward:
Yup, couldn’t see a thing. Naive as we are we stayed there in the cold and wind waiting for it to blow over, nearly freezing to death. It did blow over. As soon as we descended to the car park that is. So below the Czech translation are some photos I could have taken from our car without feeling like I am trying to conquer the South Pole. From Mt William we drove to a campsite in southern part of Grampians for our last night in the area. From the campsite started another walk, so we went to give it a go. After a bit of a climb we got to a nice view which I took a photo of. When passing the camera back to Gordie we dropped it and broke it. Back in the camp Gordie tried to fix it, which finished the poor thing off completely, so here is the last photo ever taken with our camera:
So as I said – not exactly the highlight.
Zpatky v kempu ho Gordie zkousel spravit, cimz ho dodelal uplne. Takze tady je historicky posledni fotka z naseho fotaku:
Jak rikam – nebyl to uplne nejlepsi den.
Poor camera! It died a noble death.
